It’s hard to believe but we are well on our way to the April 17 tax deadline.  While some days it seems to us like it will never end, my guess is that it will be here before we know it.  As always, if we have all of your tax materials by April 5 we will get your returns complete (barring any crazy tax filing situations that pop up).  If your materials are not in by that date, we will do our best to complete but offer no guarantees and an extension may be necessary.  A few other odds and ends

  • Recall that an extension is an extension of time to file NOT an extension of time to pay.  If you expect to owe we need to run the numbers and come up with a payment amount.
  • Many of you are waiting for partnership k-1’s.  These often come very late in the tax season and, unfortunately, we are all at the mercy of when they are distributed.
  • Please do not send us documents with sensitive information through regular email.  As most of you know, we have an on-line file sharing portal that you can utilize.  Or documents with encryption of some sort (passwords) are sufficient.
  • There are a multitude of tax scams going on right now.  I have seen no shortage of creative ways for scammers to obtain information from taxpayers.  Please remember that the IRS will ALWAYS contact you initially through US Mail.

As always, if you have any questions or would like to discuss all of our service offerings, please do not hesitate to contact me or Emily.  Thank you for continuing to utilize our services.
